I am undertaking a return to the blogging world, not
without purpose, but definitely without practice. Still, even with more than
eight months since my last post, three or four sentences should get us all
caught up.
This 2012-2013 school year, I trucked through the two
semesters my professor termed “the worst” in the MSW program by completing an
internship of several hundred hours while taking coursework simultaneously. I
kept on dating the aforementioned gentleman described in the previous post who
has proven himself to be, so far, fucking fantastic. Molly and I recently moved
in with him and abide in domestic bliss* and contentment. With the move, the
coursework, the internship, and potty training a two year old, I nearly burnt
out, but was saved by the timely arrival of May and the end of the semester.

And now I can focus on growth and re-engagement in my social
relationships (and blogging) instead of barest sanity levels and physical
survival. I’m currently in the midst of
a pretty hefty caffeine detox, going from about 8 cups per day back down to my
ideal one and a half. So I found out narcolepsy is a real thing. There’s also still lots of kid pee
on the floor, and “Wednesday” is missing from the days-of-the-week panties after my quick evaluation that they were past saving. But beyond that, I’m
beginning to feel less strung out and more ready to tackle challenges.
Like the eight-week, ten thousand mile road trip Molly and
Matt and I are taking, commencing in less than two weeks. You can read about
it, and all its threats to my sanity, with regular updates, here.
In the meantime, I plan on sitting on our front porch in the
afternoons, doing more of this:
Because in these moments, it is really easy to be
present. Why would I want to be anywhere else?
